This technique consists of three components which I will explain below:

  1. Finding High Search Volume Content.

  1. Finding Top Ranking Content with Above Characteristic. 

  1. Analysing and Writing Better Content Than What is Ranking at the Top. 

Finding High Search Volume Content

You need to find out, high search volume content in your niche because in this way  you will be confirmed that you already have a large audience for the problem you are about to solve with your content. 

Conversely if you write a highly valuable content for a problem which don’t have the audience than all your hard work will be drained as you will not able to get traffic from that content. 

So you have to find out content with  ‘high search volume’  in your niche. 

The only way to do it through ‘keywords research’

Keywords: Are the words through which your audience search for your content to find  solutions for their problems.

In simple words, what you do when you want to search anything on internet?? 

You just type in ‘words’ in search engine search bar, for instance, Google search bar and press search. The ‘words’ which you type in to find your search intent are known as Keywords. 

 

How to find high search volume keywords? 

Beginners Formula For Finding Right Keywords 

As beginner, here is the best proven formula to find  high search volume keywords:

“Find out Long-tail High Search Volume Keywords with low SEO difficulty and a fair enough Cost Per Click*.” 

*( Cost Per Click CPC : indicates that people are also willing to pay for this problem, higher CPC is better with former two characteristics. For advertisers it means how much one have to pay for Google Ads to rank high for those keywords.) 

Minimum Keywords Research Criteria:

For  ‘high search volume keywords’ I mean these keywords must have the following lowest credentials:

  • Minimum Keywords length: 3
  • Minimum Search Volume :2000
  • Keyword Competition or SEO difficulty: Under 35 
  • Cost Per Click (CPC) : above 0.

Why You need this formula? I will explain below with a Keywords Research Tools example.

There are tools both free and paid to perform keywords research. With these tools we can find our keywords with above 3 characteristics and also perform various SEO analysis.

Popular  Paid Keywords Research Tools:

Recommendation: Initially I will recommend to use only free tools especially Google Keyword Planner and Ubersuggest and make a combined analysis of these tools to find your keywords with above three 

characteristics. 

 

Keywords Research Formula Explanation:

Below is the image of Ubersuggest Keyword Tool For a keyword research of ‘Make Money Online’.

At ubersuggest there are three main elements for Keywords Research to look for  as follows:

  1. Vol: Search Volume Per Month
  2. SD :Search Engine Difficulty
  3. CPC: Cost Per Click. 

In above example ‘Make Money Online’ have 74000 search volume which is high & 

has SD of 61 which is high means there is higher competition in the market to rank your content high for these keywords and has CPC of $1.34 which is low.

If we summarize keywords research for ‘Make Money Online’, It means they are High Search Volume Keywords with High Competition and Low CPC. 

Inference: We should not go for ‘Make Money Online’ Keywords, instead we should go after ‘Ways To Make  Money Online’ with Vol: 27100, 

SD :36 and CPC: $1.23. 

Inference : It means it have fairly high search volume, and half the competition as compared to former and high CPC

Takeaway:Keywords Research 

Find long tail high search, low competition and fair enough CPC keywords that will help you rank high on the top of Google search with more chances to make money from it.

Bonus Tip:

As a beginner make a list of at least 100 keywords in your niche with above three characteristics. Later you can use it for your content planning and editorial calender. 

This will be the basis for you  for writing content which has high search potential and low competition to get your new blog high traffic. 

 

2.Finding Top Ranking Content with Keywords Research 

After finding  keywords(as discussed above) for your blog content, find the already top ranking content against those keywords. 

Finding Top Content:

For this, Just put those keywords on Google and click search, You will get  SERPs( Search Engine Result Page) displaying your desired results. 

Another way is to Go to Ubersuggest, type your keywords and then click search. 

It will show you related keywords and below this it will show the top ranking content against those keywords. 

For more advance analysis you can use paid tools like Ahrefs and SEMrush. 

3.Analysing and Writing Better Content 

Next step is to research and analyize the top ranking content against your selected keywords for a blog post. 

Read at least top 5 post  in a manner to know: 

-WHAT IS  RANKING ? 

-WHY  ITS  RANKING ? 

-HOW  ITS  RANKING? 

Jot down the main points discussed in these posts to build up your knowledge for the topic. 

FIGURE OUT HOW TO CREATE MORE VALUABLE CONTENT THAN ONE AT THE TOP IN GOOGLE RANKING ? 

The techniques to do this are:

FIND THE GAP ? 

Think what is missing, or can be improved further, how to add more value to the ranking content for instance if its short make it long with more valuable details and insights, write what is missing, show a new angle which is more easy or valuable for your audience to solve their problems etc.

Post Structure

A high ranking blog post usually consists of four things:

  1. Title or Main Headline;
  2. Introduction;
  3. Body;
  4. Conclusion;

To write these four things in way  that please and engage your audience so that they start linking and sharing your post  is an art which I will be discussing here for you.

4.Write A Captivating Post     Title/Headline

The very first step in writing a blog post is drafting an eye catching headline. 

Entice your reader to read your post with problem solving headline(the title). 

Define Problem and Propose Solution:

Write headline in a way that it propose a problem and suggest a solution but write your headline in a way to lure your reader  to read your post under this headline to find the solution to the problem.

Deal with Searcher Intent:

The headline must include searcher intent that is to clearly specify what specific dimension of a problem your post will solve. 

The more specific is the searcher intent  in the headline the more likely it will get right audience and the higher chance of getting traffic through shares, links, and ranking. 

For instance:

•‘Learn How to make a cake’ (A General Problem) 

•‘How to Make a  Delicious Chocolate Mousse Cake in 30 minutes’ (A  Specific Problem With Clear Searcher Intent) 

•‘How to loose weight’ (A General Problem) 

•‘How to Loose 20 KG in 30 Days Without Workout’ (A  Specific Problem With Clear Searcher Intent) 

In above examples there is a general  headline or specific headline with clear searcher intent  with enticement for solution that is how to. 

Which one you will your self go for, obviously you will go after a headline with your specific search intent and so will be your target audience. 

You have to go for specific problem with searcher intent in mind and starve them to read for solution. 

Bug Audience To Keep Reading For Solution:

Keep in mind for solution that 

‘You don’t have to provide complete solution in your headline’ 

rather you just have to entice your reader to read post for full and complete solution. 

Now, I will be discussing the types of headline which rank.

TYPES OF TOP RANKING HEADLINES :

Listicals/List Headlines: 

These are the most widely used and most shared blog post headlines, because they are more concrete, definite, bugging for audience to read your post. 

A list post consist of a list to solve a problem, 

Examples:

5 Ways to Control Your Temper Instantly”

“10 things you should avoid to eat after 40 years”

“7 Best Ways to Market Your Online Business”

Questions Headlines:

These are the second most  popular type of  headlines which usually rank top in search results because they are extensively shared and linked by bloggers as they answer a specific question of a searcher’s intent. 

Question headlines start with questions like How, Why, What, Which, When etc. You can also use combination of above words in one headline. 

Examples :

How to Start Your Own Blog in 30 Minutes?” 

“How to do Keyword Research for a blog post?”

“What is blogging and how to make money from blogging?”

Curative Collection Headlines: 

These Headlines motivate your readers to acquire knowledge of some best collections available to solve a problem. 

This type of headline provides a  collection of options  to fulfil a searchers intent. 

Examples:

“4 Best Platforms To Build Your Own Blog in 2019”

“5 Best Business Books to read for all times”

“Top 10 Recipes To Make Mexican Stakes”

“Top 20 Beautiful Places You can travel with low budget”

Course or Tutorial Headlines: 

As the name suggest, these headlines contain a step wise guide or tutorial course often used with question headlines. 

These are  popular among pro-bloggers who possess field expertise; 

Examples:

“Ultimate Guide for SEO for Beginners”

“How to Build  Your  Own blog: A step wise guide to build your blog from scratch”

“What is Personal Finance? A step wise guide to save $100,000 per year.” 

Experience Sharing Headlines: 

Bloggers widely use these headlines to inspire and lure their audience search intent in order to attract them towards their achievements and success and promoting their blog or products at back end. 

  Examples:

10 Things I Wish I Would Knew Before Starting My Online Business” 

“7 Things to Avoid While Training Your Dogs”

“10 Practical Things I Learned To Control My  Anger To Avoid Frequent Workplace Burnout”

Takeaway: Headline 

Often a Headline or Title can be a mix of the above types, there is no hard and fast rule over here, the major takeaway is to attract your audience with a captivating headline  to read your post.

5.Open With A Seductive Introduction 

By now you have understood, how to attract your audience with your Captivating Post Headline. 

What next..???

You have captivate your audience with your bugging headline to click your post. 

You have offered them a to taste your delicious cake and they are now attracted towards it now its time let them taste your  cake. If it taste ‘yum’ in the first bite then are likely to eat it all… 

Same is the case with your introduction, if its seductive and engaging they will keep on reading or otherwise the reader will run away. 

So how you should open your post? 

What your introduction should be in order to lure your audience to read it all..? What will make yum feeling in the beginning, so that they keep on reading till end? 

That’s it! You just have to focus on these questions keeping in mind your headline to write an introduction. 

Put it in other way that is seeing it from your audience eyes: 

Why should I read it, is it the island where I will definitely find the treasure? Will it provide me the answer or solution to the intent  for which I am pondering or its just a piece of jerk that I should immediately leave? 

That’s how your audience see..

What Makes Introduction Seductive? 

Start with a Bugging Story: 

Attract people with stories in the start , begin with a relevant story to your headline in order to drive analogy to the problem and a definite solution in a way to lure them to read it all. 

The best story is to share your own experience or story because that will touch the hearts of your audience at personal level and they will be more anxious to learn from your direct experience.. 

No problem if don’t have your own story, tell them a universal truth story or story of some pioneer/role model/hero  any thing relevant to your topic  in order to attract your audience attention to continue reading. 

Attract with Inspirational Quotes: 

Another way is to start with  relevant inspirational quotes, in order to drive audience motivations to read it further, the more relevant are the quotes to your post headline the more it will inspire  them and motivate them to read further for problem solution.

Attract With Search Intent : 

Another effective way is to give a attractive introduction is to  bug your audience with their search intent in the start. Define the problem they are having and the solution they will get by reading your post. 

Usually experienced writers put this in their introduction after a story, analogy or quotes but its not thumb rule. 

You can ask a question regarding their teasing problem and tell what  they will learn after reading your post.

WHAT YOUR INTRODUCTION MUST  INCLUDE IN ALL THREE : is the road map to the solution of a problem that your typical reader intended by clicking your headline

6.Make Your Post Scannable 

One of the most important thing for a ranking post high in Google ranking is how much the post is easy to scan or read:

  • First for your reader;
  • Second by the search engine. 

Here are some important elements that make your post easily scannable. 

Draft Content Outline:

Content Outline also known as Table of Contents brief your readers about the whole post, it let them scan your post, provide them a concise road map to the problem and solution.. Most importantly what they will miss if they just read introduction. 

Give Sub Headings:

Usually the content outline consists of Concrete Subheadings or a list, referring to Subheadings. So what ever you like you can choose from the above to create your content outline. I use both depending on the topic requirement. 

Subheadings add more value to your post by offering more yum to your readers. 

Give Subheading for each main point or idea or  component of the main problem your are solving in your post. 

Usually a subheadings comes after 3 or 4 paragraphs. 

Create Effective and Consistent Subheadings: 

  • All Subheadings should follow a sequence and must  be consistent   with the previous subheading. (as you can see in this post too.) 

  • Your subheadings should be as much captivating as your post headline. 

  • Subheadings must be in a sequence according to the topic requirement moving towards a conclusion

Add Pit-Stops: Further Subheadings

You should add further subheadings under your main subheadings  as you are seeing in my this post. 

But  you should not include them in your content outline because its not a book content pages, its your post and people rarely appraise such a detailed content outline for a blog post. 

So keep them under your subheadings.

Benefits: These further subheadings are the pit-stops  that make your post much more attractive and highly scannable and make it much more sticky for readers and that is what we need to keep them reading till end..

7.End With A Proper Conclusion

As a seductive opening is important so is the fascinating ending. 

End your post  with a proper Conclusion with a ‘Conclusion heading’. 

Most of the readers first read your Introduction and Conclusion and if they find that of value they read your remaining post. 

In your conclusion you have to let your readers know what they have accomplished so far, and what they are able to do after reading your post, what they have learned, what transformation they have achieved. 

In other words, You have to simply conclude to your readers that their problem is solved now and what to do next and that is what we call CTA(Call To Action). 

Must Add CTA To Your Conclusion   

You have pulled the cart of  hard work to create a wonderful content for your readers and then attracted them to read your post till end, now what you want to do?

Either you may leave them at they their own so they may never come back  to your blog again. 

Or  you want to make them your fans and followers by making them your blog subscribers to keep them with your blog for long-term  to convert them into your valuable customers.

To tap this opportunities you must add Call To Action (CTA) in your conclusion in order  to make them subscribe to your blog.

CTA is used to capture lead or email address of your reader to build your email list. 

YOUR BLOG MONEY IS IN YOUR EMAIL LIST AND YOU SHOULD TRY YOUR BEST NOT LEAVE ANY READER WITHOUT SUBSCRIBING TO YOUR BLOG. 

CTA Placement: 

CTA is placed in shape of a subscription form at the end of your post. Or as  A Lead Magnet (Freebie in exchange of your reader email ).

CTA may also appear as Popups when your reader scrolls to the end of your post or about to leave your  blog page. 

You can place it in the middle , or on the top or bottom of your page or between your post as you feel suitable. 

You can add CTA at multiple places or where you feel it should come but avoid overwhelming your reader with them. 

8.Carve Your  Post For Perfection 

Till now we have discussed the post structure and how to create the key elements of a blog post, including: post title, introduction, content outline, post body with subheadings and final conclusion at the end. 

After you complete your first writing draft, now you have to renovate it by applying the above discussed things for each component of your post regarding headlines, subheadings, introduction, body and conclusion. 

It includes:

1. Formatting:

Give proper formatting for Main headline(Title), headings and subheadings and the highlighted things. 

Use unique large bold font for post title and  bold fonts for headings & subheadings. 

Tag Them with Heading Tags like H1, H2, H3 and so on. 

H1 or Title Tag is Used For Main Headline or Title of Your Post 

For later Headings and Subheadings H2 and H3 are used, H1 is not used. 

Note: Tags are used to let search engine scan and understand your post to optimize it for search and to make your post easily readable for readers 

o Use Bullets and Numberings to highlight headings,  subheadings and special points to give a professional and scan-able look. 

o Use highlighter  or different colours with bold writing to emphasis  important sentences, phrases or alike as you are seeing in this post. 

o Make a uniform  colour scheme and font size for  your Title, Headings, Subheadings, Lists, Quotes and Highlighted points it will become your post theme. 

2.Proof Reading: 

Once you have done all the formatting do proof reading:

o Read it all again and read it loud for proof reading or you can read it out to somebody else to give it an external view. 

o Check for grammar mistakes, sentence phrases.

o Trim the unnecessary words and sentences. 

o Check for unnecessary repetition of content 

o Complete and include where you feel information is required. 

3.Including Infographics and Images: 

“A pictures speaks a thousand words. ”

Infographics include images with text or pictorial display of your content ideas. 

Don’t take it light, infographics play a vital role in grabbing first attention of your audience and the quality of your infographics make the first impression on readers either they are lured to read the post or leave it. 

You must include at least one infographics to your post most preferably in the beginning. 

Hint: A Post Outline Infographics works best for all kind of posts.
